Communicating across cultures can be both enjoyable and uncertain. Often, when interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, we focus on differences between us, instead of considering how we are similar. This training session will highlight four building blocks for understanding effective communication with those who hold different cultural identities from ours.

Workplace conflicts are not uncommon, but they can make us feel uncomfortable and unsure about how to engage. In this workshop, we’ll explore, and practice five key things people can do to help productively manage conflict toward meaningful resolution and even, potentially, new understanding. 

Participants will leave with evidence-based strategies -- and a bit of low-stakes experience through practice – to guide their interactions with conflict now and in the future.

Upcoming FYI Friday session, Medicare Part A & B: When & How (FYI Friday Fall 2024)

This course is intended for employees reaching Medicare eligibility and/or Medicare eligible employees losing PEBB health benefits due to retirement, reduced FTE or leaving OSU employment.

The course will provide Information regarding the different parts of Medicare, enrollment timelines, how to enroll in A and B, what is required to enroll and who can provide assistance.

LGBTQIA+ Inclusion

LGBTQIA+ people have always been part of our communities and workplaces; only recently have more LGBTQIA+ people felt safe enough to live and love openly. In spite of cultural and legislative progress, LGBTQIA+ members and colleagues still face bias, frequent harassment in daily life, and discrimination. Organizations that promote diversity, equity and inclusion must be clear that people of all sexual and gender identities, orientations and expressions are valued and welcome.
