The FYI Friday lineup consists of a variety of campus partners presenting brief, one-off, awareness- or foundational skill-building topics of interest to a wide audience. Weekly sessions are available to all Oregon State University students, faculty and staff - and there is no cost to attend. Presented on Fridays, Fall through Spring.

Upcoming: Core Curriculum for Supervisors & Managers

Managers and supervisors at OSU play a key role in enabling employees to do their best work. The Core Curriculum for Managers and Supervisors is a training program for all Oregon State University managers, supervisors, and lead workers. Search Advocate Community of Practice

The Search Advocate Community of Practice (CoP) is a monthly meeting for those who have already completed Search Advocate Foundations series.  Trained advocates come together to discuss challenges, share strategies, and co-create the OSU Search Advocate program.  Three CoP meetings during the academic year fulfill the annual search advocate continuing education requirements for eligibility.

Search Advocate: Annual Update Session

This workshop is a continuing education update for those who have completed the Search Advocate Foundations initial workshop series and will meet the requirements for them to remain eligible to serve in that role for another year. Content changes each year, but typically introduces new tools, reinforces recommendations for advocates, and provides a forum for practice and for addressing current questions.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) Faculty Success Program 

The Faculty Success Program is a 12-week, online program that was designed to teach tenure-track and tenured faculty the skills they need to increase both their research and writing productivity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Participants must be nominated by their dean.

Hosted by National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD), sponsored by Faculty Affairs.

New Employee Orientation

Welcome to Oregon State University - we're glad you're here! 

New faculty and staff are encouraged to attend New Employee Orientation (offered monthly) to learn about terms of employment, review benefits/retirement options, and get connected with resources. Union informational sessions, for employees represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and United Academics of Oregon State University (UAOSU), are presented afterwards.

Creating an Inclusive Community: for New Faculty & Staff 

The goal of the course is to introduce new OSU faculty and staff to key concepts for diversity, equity and inclusion as well as orient participants to institutional expectations, resources, and learning opportunities. As a way to continue to promote positive engagement and experiences among all faculty and staff, Oregon State University invites all new faculty and staff to complete this course, which focuses on OSU’s history and commitments to diversity and inclusion.
