Banner FIS Invoice Approval

This online course is for staff responsible for Invoice Approvals.  Topics covered include a brief review of invoice entry, invoice approval in Banner and Banner Self Service, items to verify, and common errors.   *Please note: this training only covers invoice approval in Banner.  If you are using BennyBuy (the eProcurement system) the invoice approval process is different.  See the eProcurement Training page for more details.

Banner FIS Grants

This online course is for staff responsible for supporting OSU Grants.  The course consists of a User Manual, four interactive online training segments, and a test.  Topics covered include navigation in grant forms, how to run grant specific reports, and basic grant fundamentals. All course materials are delivered through Canvas.  Details on how to access the course will be emailed to you after registration is complete. Banner FIS Grants (query only) access is contingent on submitting a Request for Access form and successfully completing this course.

Banner FIS Journal Vouchers

This training is for the beginning Banner Finance Information System (FIS) user responsible for departmental Journal Vouchers. It includes an introduction to OSU policies and Banner forms related to creating and tracking Journal Vouchers through movies demonstrating Banner forms, Appworx reports, exercises that simulate the operation of the forms, quizzes to check understanding, and a required final test. Banner FIS

The FIS Banner online training provides an overall look at the organizational and accounting structure at Oregon State University. It is designed to help the user gain an understanding of how OSU is organized within the financial accounting system and how their unit fits into the big picture. In addition to organizational structure the course will cover fund accounting, FOAPAL accounting structure, Indexes, and an overview of the Fiscal Operations Manual.

Compliance in the Classroom

Many aspects of the classroom experience are connected to state, federal and institutional compliance directives. Join staff from the Office of the Registrar, Disability Access Services, and Equal Opportunity and Access to learn more about faculty responsibilities related to accommodating students (disability, pregnancy, religion, and military deployment) and responsibilities related to reporting sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment and child abuse. There will be time for questions, case studies, and consultation.

FERPA Training module

This training, which is required for further access to student information systems, helps learners understand how the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act applies to job duties. In this, you will learn the difference between directory and non-directory information, what FERPA protects, and practice applying your knowledge to several scenarios.

FYI Friday Program

The FYI Friday lineup consists of a variety of campus partners presenting brief, one-off, awareness- or foundational skill-building topics of interest to a wide audience. Weekly sessions are available to all Oregon State University students, faculty and staff - and there is no cost to attend. Presented on Fridays, Fall through Spring.
